How to Delete Your Cover Photo on Facebook?
Your cover photo is another way you can personalize your Facebook account, aside from the profile photo.
But if you want to delete it, there’s a simple way to do it. Follow the steps below to remove your cover photo on Facebook:
1. Tap on the Facebook Menu icon
When you open Facebook, you’ll land on your feed. This is where you can see the latest posts from your friends.
To remove your cover photo, you need to get to your profile, and to do that, you’ll need to access the Menu first.
The Menu icon is in the top-right corner – the three horizontal lines. Tap on that icon!
2. Select your profile
Once you get to the Facebook Menu, look in the top-left corner for your profile picture and name.
Tap on either one to open your Facebook profile. That’s where you’ll find your cover photo, and that’s where you change it from.
3. Select your Cover Photo and tap on “View profile cover“
When you get to your Facebook profile, look up to see your profile photo. It’s just above your profile picture. Tap on it, and a new menu will appear at the bottom.
Select “View profile cover” to open the cover photo in the menu.
4. Tap on the three-dot icon in the top-right corner
Once you open your cover photo, look in the top-right corner for a three-dot icon. Those are the settings for your cover photo.
Tap on the icon and follow the steps below to delete the photo!
5. Select “Delete Photo”
After you tap on the three-dot icon, you’ll open a menu at the bottom of the screen. There are several options there, including “Edit caption”, “Delete photo”, “Save to phone”, and more.
Select “Delete photo” to delete the cover photo from your Facebook profile.
When asked to confirm your action, select “DELETE”.
This will delete the cover photo permanently, including your post on your feed. If you want to reupload the same cover photo, you’ll need to take it from your phone.
Remember that the photo won’t be available on your Facebook account anymore.
If you want to keep the present cover photo, you need to “change it”, not “delete it”. Switch to another cover photo, and the old one will be kept in your collections.
How Can I Delete an Older Cover Photo?
What if you don’t want to delete the cover photo you’re using right now? What if you want to delete a cover photo you’ve used in the past?
If you didn’t know, the old cover photos are all saved in your Albums.
To delete an older cover photo, follow the steps below:
1. Go to your Facebook Profile from your Menu
Follow the same steps as above to get to your profile page on Facebook. Go to your Menu and then tap on your profile picture.
This will take you to your menu, where you can access your Albums. They contain all your older cover photos.
2. Tap on “Photos”
Once you open your Profile, scroll down until you see the “Photos” button. It’s under the “Post” text box.
This should be the same on all devices but may differ on computers. Still, you’ll find the “Photos” or “Albums” features on your profile.
3. Select “Albums” and then “Cover Photos”
In the “Photos”, select “Albums” at the top of the menu bar. This will open the Albums menu, where you can see multiple options.
You’ll find your Profile and Cover photos here. Select “Cover Photos” and continue with the next steps.
4. Select a cover photo
This is where you’ll find all your cover photos in one place, including the ones you’ve used before.
Select the one you want to delete by tapping on it. This will open the cover photo in full screen.
5. Tap on the three-dot icon and then select “Delete photo”
Once you open the cover photo in full screen, look in the top-right corner for the three-dot icon and tap on it.
When the menu appears, select “Delete photo” from the list and then confirm your action. This will delete the cover photo permanently from your account.
Deleting a cover photo on Facebook is easy:
- Go to your profile
- Select your cover photo
- Tap on the three-dot icon in the top-right corner
- Select “Delete Photo” and confirm
This will delete your cover photo permanently. You don’t need to delete it from anywhere else.
But if you want to delete an older cover photo that you’ve recently switched with something else, you’ll find it in the Albums.
Select the cover photo – three-dot icon – Delete Photo – confirm. It’s the same easy process as before.
Can you recover a deleted cover photo?
No, you can’t. Facebook doesn’t save it in its databases. Once you delete a cover photo, it’s gone permanently.
You can save it before deleting it, though. If the photo is important to you, you might want to save it.
Alternatively, some of your friends might have it if they’ve saved it. Maybe you sent it to someone else, and it’s still on their private chat?
Or do you send it through public comment on a post? You can get your cover photo in many ways, but not through Facebook customer support.
They can’t help you because they don’t have the cover photo. You’ve deleted it permanently, so it’s not on Facebook’s servers anymore.
But private chats and public comments are different. If you remember that you’ve sent the cover photo to someone, then you’ll find it there!
Can you hide a cover photo so no one can see it?
Yes, you can.
There’s no need to delete a cover or profile photo so that no one sees them. You can hide them on your profile.
Go to your Facebook profile and then:
– Tap on Photos
– Go to Albums
– Select Profile/Cover Photos
– Select a Profile/Cover Photo
– Tap on the three-dot icon in the top-right corner
– Select “Hide”
This will hide the profile/cover photo from your feed and profile. However, it won’t hide it from public comments or private chats.
Also, people with the link to the picture can still access it.
Hiding the cover photo works great on Facebook, and we’ve tested it! But most likely, no one has the link to it. Because why would they?
