How to Enable Comments on YouTube?

Enable YouTube Video Comments on Computer

If you’re on a computer, then this will be easy. I’ve split this guide into two parts – one where you enable comments on existing videos and one where you allow the comments on future uploads.

The settings are different, and they’re in other places. But you’ll still be using YouTube Studio for this. Let’s start, shall we?

For Existing Videos

To enable comments on an existing YouTube video, follow the steps below:

1. Click on your profile picture

Select “Allow all comments” or “Hold potentially inappropriate comments for review,” and you’re done. You’ve enabled comments on that one video.

Repeat this process for all your other videos if comments are disabled on them too.

For Future Video Uploads

Now that you’ve learned how to enable comments on existing videos, you should ensure all new video uploads have comments enabled by default.

It’ll save you time by enabling comments for every new video you post.

To do this, follow the steps below:

Conclusion

To summarize: enabling comments on your YouTube videos is only a matter of minutes. The steps are easy to follow whether you allow comments on existing videos or all future video uploads.

Whether you’re on a mobile device or computer, you’ll be able to enable the comments relatively quickly without too much hassle.

If you have any questions, post a comment below, and I’ll reply as soon as possible. Stay tuned for other guides for YouTube!

Why enable comments on YouTube videos?

Comments make up almost half of someone’s experience on YouTube. Watching a video evokes certain feelings and thoughts, and you’d want to express those feelings.

Maybe you want to praise the content creator or suggest ideas, tell them something nice, or criticize them.

And you should be free to do that; you should have the means to do that. This is what YouTube comments are for.

They give YouTube viewers a voice and a channel to express that voice. If there were no way for people to comment, YouTube creators wouldn’t know how to manage their channels.

Enabling comments also helps the content creator, then. It gives them a direct view of what the viewers expect from them and whether they like their content or not.

It’s frustrating not to be able to comment on a video on YouTube. Not many people will watch if you disable comments on your video. Content creators often ask their audience what they’d like to see next, and they do exactly that.

Why do some YouTube videos have disabled comments?

You must have seen plenty of YouTube videos with disabled comments. And you must have wondered why that is.

Why did the content creator disable comments? After all, if comments increase engagement, isn’t it counter-intuitive to disable them?

Yes and no. Let me explain.

Most of the videos that have disabled their comments are announcement-type videos or videos made by creators who don’t want the viewers to be distracted.

The Comments Section on YouTube is quite distracting; you have to admit that. You may not appreciate the video as much if you’re constantly thinking about commenting.

Or if you’re wondering what someone else commented on the video.

Without the comment section, you can fully focus on the video. Plus, some creators disable the comments to avoid toxic, harmful, offensive, and irrelevant comments.

That’s why some people disable comments on their videos.

Unforeseen errors, bugs, and other problems make their use of social media problematic. These things will be discussed amply in the guides on Whizcase.

I'll present the facts as they are, and offer quick and easy solutions for them.
