Then, go to your profile and tap on your profile picture.

In the top-right corner, you’ll see the “three-dot” icon. Tap on it, and then select “Delete Photo.”

This will remove your profile picture on Facebook, and you’re free to add another.

When you remove your profile picture, Facebook will leave the default person silhouette in place of it.

That will be your profile picture if you don’t add any pictures.

Follow the steps below to see how you can remove the profile picture:

  • Open Facebook and tap on your profile picture

To delete your profile picture, you must go to your profile first.

To do that, tap on your profile picture. It’s in the top-left corner, right beside the “What’s on your mind?” dialog box.

Alternatively, you can tap on the “Menu” icon. It’s the three-dash icon in the top-right corner.

There are also several buttons there – “Add to story”, “Edit profile”, and “Edit” (three-dot icon).

To remove your profile picture, you need to tap on your profile picture.

Don’t tap on the camera icon, though. Doing that won’t let you remove your profile picture.

It’ll take you to the camera feature, where you can take a photo to upload as a profile picture.

You need to remove the profile picture, so tap on it first.

It’s in the middle of the screen.

  • Select “View profile picture”

The menu will show multiple options like “Make cover photo,” “Edit caption,” Delete photo,” “Save to phone,” and more.

They let you interact in various ways with your profile picture.

For instance, if you select “Save to phone,” you’ll save the Facebook profile picture to your Camera Roll on your phone.

“Send in Messenger” lets you send the profile picture to someone on Facebook Messenger.

You need to delete it, so select “Delete photo.”

Then, confirm your action by tapping on “Delete” again.

Once you tap on “Delete,” Facebook will delete your profile picture for good.

You won’t find it on Facebook anymore. If you have it in your camera roll, that’s good.

But if you don’t, the picture is gone for good.

After you delete your Facebook profile picture, return to your profile.

If you look at the profile picture, you’ll notice there’s no picture anymore.

Instead, there’s a human silhouette on a grey background.

That’s the Facebook default profile picture if you don’t add any photo to your profile picture.

It’s the lack of a profile picture, more specifically.

Conclusion

Facebook lets you change or remove your profile picture on your Desktop or mobile phone.

However, the process isn’t obvious in the beginning.

There’s no “delete” option in your profile.

First, you need to select your profile picture, select the Menu icon, and select “Delete.”

After you confirm your action, Facebook will delete your profile picture.

FAQ

Can you hide your profile picture on Facebook?

Yes, you can.

If you don’t want others to see your profile picture, you don’t need to remove it.

Instead, you can make it private so that only you, the account holder, will see it.

To do this, go to your Facebook profile, tap on the profile picture, then select “View profile picture.”

Then, go to the Menu (three-dot icon) and select “Edit Privacy/Edit Audience.”

In that menu, you need to select “Only me.”

Once you do that, no one but you will see your profile picture on Facebook.

Everyone else will see the default Facebook silhouette as your profile picture.

People will think you removed your profile picture from Facebook because the “Only me” option is largely unknown by everyone.

Not many people know you can make your profile picture private.
