Thinking about uploading Hollywood movies to Odysee and hoping that the platform will simply let you? That’s nothing but folly, I’m afraid. We’ll talk more about that later…
For now, let me explain the process of uploading stuff on Odysee:
- Open Odysee
- Click on your profile picture
- Go to “Uploads“
- Select “Upload something new“
- Browse to find your file and upload it
Odysee lets to upload up to 4GB worth of video on the platform in one attempt. And unless you’re dealing with Bluray content, 4GB should be more than enough.
But we should get underway. Read my guide below for detailed explanations, screenshots included!
How Can I Upload Hollywood Movies in Odysee?
Uploading Hollywood movies in Odysee is not as exciting as it might seem. It’s quite easy, in fact. See below:
1. Click on your profile picture
Begin by opening the Odysee website and look for your profile picture in the top-right corner. Select it to open the drop-down menu.
2. Select “Uploads“
With the drop-down menu opened, select the pink “Uploads” option and see the next steps:
3. Select “Upload Something New“
After you select “Uploads,” you’ll be taken to the window above. If you haven’t uploaded anything yet, then you should see the “Uploads Something New” button in the middle of the page.
Give it a click and see where it takes you!
4. Select “Browse“
Once you select “Upload Something New,” you’ll be taken to this page (see above).
Click “Browse” in the top-right corner, where it says “Upload a file.” Once you do that, you’ll open a “File Explorer” window that lets you select the video you want to upload.
Do that and once you’re done, complete all the other necessary fields on this page, like “Title,” “Description,” and so on.
5. Select “Upload“
After doing all this, you can finally upload the Hollywood movie to Odysee. At the bottom of the page, you’ll see the “Upload” button. Click on it, and Odysee will take care of the rest.
What Does It Mean if My Uploads Are Filtered Out?
Copyright-protected content WILL be filtered out on Odysee, and this might mean Holywood movies.
If the content is filtered out, people won’t be able to find it via searches. The content will still be on the LBRY blockchain, but people will simply not be able to find it. The wonders of technology…
So, it kind of defeats the purpose of uploading that movie on Odysee if people won’t be able to view it, doesn’t it?
Even if the movie is publicly available on torrenting networks, it’s still pirated and protected by copyrights. Odysee doesn’t support piracy and fully upholds copyrights, of course.
So, even if you are technically free to upload Hollywood movies on the LBRY blockchain, it doesn’t mean Odysee can’t do anything to prevent others from seeing your movies.
That’s about everything I can tell you about this. Have any questions or requests? Leave a comment below, and I’ll be sure to read it!
