Upload YouTube Shorts on Computer

If you’re on a computer and you want to upload a YouTube Short, it’s even easier. Did you upload longer videos on YouTube before?

It’s going to be the same this time around! It’s just that you need to keep in mind that short videos on YouTube need to have:

  1. A maximum of 60 seconds
  2. A vertical or square aspect ratio of 9:16

If you already have such a video, you’re ready to upload it on YouTube through your computer.

Follow the steps below to do this:

1. Tap on the “Create” (camera) icon

Once you find the video and upload it, you’ll be taken to a 4-step-process page. The first step is going over the general details like title, thumbnail, etc.

In the “Title” section, type in the title of the video, and then add a comma and type in “#shorts“. This is so that YouTube can put this video in its Shorts section.

Then, click “Next” in the bottom-right corner when you’re done.

5. Select “Public” and click on “Publish

Select "Public" and click on "Publish"

You’ll need to select a “Visibility” option in the last step. This defines who sees your video. If the video is private, only you can see it.

If it’s public, everyone will be able to see it. Set the “Visibility” option to “Public” and then click on “Publish” in the bottom-right corner of the page.

Now you’re done. YouTube will publish your short video on the platform.

To summarize, you can upload short videos on YouTube on mobile or computer using the steps outlined in the guide above.

There’s nothing difficult about it. The steps are as easy as tapping/clicking on a few buttons and uploading a video to the platform.

There’s no other way you can do it, and the process is identical on iOS and Android, so there’s no difference between platforms.

What are YouTube Shorts?

YouTube released its Shorts feature across the US on March 18th, 202S. Then, it released the feature in beta mode across more than 100 countries on July 12th, 2021.

The feature garnered a lot of attention, almost 6.5 billion views daily, which made YouTube transform it into a permanent feature.

At its core, the Shorts feature is meant to compete with TikTok. All Short Videos on YouTube are 60 seconds at most, and they’re shot in a 9:16 aspect ratio.

While it may not be as popular as TikTok, YouTube Short Videos has surely taken a slice of the market for itself.

This type of content is hyper-attractive because of its small form. Sixty seconds is not much, even for people with a low attention span.

Usually, the content is condensed into a tidbit of enjoyable content less likely to bore you.

Can YouTube Shorts be 4K?

No, YouTube Shorts can’t be in 4K because of the natural limitation of short videos on YouTube.

These videos need a minimum resolution of 600 x 600 and a maximum of 1080 x 1080.

4K resolution is 3840 x 2160, far from what a short video on YouTube can achieve.

Despite the lack of top-tier quality, most short videos on YouTube are very clear and high-quality.

YouTubers can even monetize Shorts for their channels. If they have enough views and subscribers, they’ll receive money from YouTube.

Short videos have a larger potential than regular videos due to their short form. Viewers are likelier to watch an entire short video than a regular one.

So, there’s more money to be made for advertisers.
