How to Verify Your Phone Number on Discord?

Did you know that some Discord servers require you to verify your phone number to send messages? That’s because some Discord servers have the “highest” security verification levels implemented.

And you won’t be able to do almost anything on them until you verify yourself.

In short, you can verify your phone number from within the Discord app. You don’t need to open a browser or anything.

Go to your Discord Settings – Account – Phone. Once you’re there, enter your phone number, and Discord will send a verification code to your phone. Enter the verification code into the app and enter your Discord account password.

It’s better if I just showed you, so keep reading for a detailed guide on verifying your phone number on Discord, screenshots included!

We’ll do this on a mobile phone but it’s almost the same on a computer. First, tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.

This will prompt a menu to appear – several settings are listed there. One of them is “My Account“. Select it and keep reading:

2. Select “Phone”

Once you get to the “My Account” page, look for the “Phone” field (under the “Email” option) and select it. This will take you to a page where you can verify your phone number.

See below:

3. Add your phone number and tap on “Next”

4. Tap on “Verify”

See the big, blue “Verify” button in the center of the page? Yeah, tap it to start verifying your phone number.

You’ll need to complete an hCaptcha verification process to proceed, so there’s that.

5. Enter the code in the field

Discord will send a random 6-digit code to your mobile phone. Get it from your phone (it comes through SMS) and enter it in the field on the Discord app.

Discord will automatically redirect you to the next page when you enter the code.

You’ll need to enter your Discord account password to finalize the verification process (see below).

Enter your password

Once you enter the password, look at the bottom of the page.

There, you’ll see a blue button showing a diskette. Tap on it to finish the verification procedure (see above).

6. Look at your Account Information again

After you verify your phone number, it’ll appear in the “Account Information” section of your profile settings.

This shows you’ve verified your phone number and that you’re allowed to access some of the features on high-security Discord severs.

If you want to change your phone number in the feature, you can change it here.

Go to your profile – Account Settings – Phone, and do the same thing to verify another phone number.

And you’re done. If you have any issues with this guide or anything else related to Discord, let me know in the comments below!

FAQ

Why do some Discord servers require you to verify your phone number?

Because of spamming.

Discord has its fair share of spammers who ruin the experience for everyone else.

Not everyone is genuinely interested in Discord’s features as a communication app.

Some people join servers only to promote products and services or to spam.

That’s why server owners have started to impose certain security requirements.

This stops most spammers from joining the group because they’re not interested in going through the extra steps.

Moreover, such security features will stop bots completely.

Discord has problems with bots, as well.

Fortunately, bots are much easier to prevent than human spammers.

Bots can’t complete security checks or verify phone numbers, so these security measures are most effective.

Unforeseen errors, bugs, and other problems make their use of social media problematic. These things will be discussed amply in the guides on Whizcase.
