How to See Who Shared Your Instagram Story?

Do you want to know who shared your Instagram story? You can’t. Instagram doesn’t have this feature.

There’s no way to find out who shared your Instagram story other than asking people.

You could also try posting another story where you ask your followers who shared that particular story.

What you can do, however, is use your Instagram Business Account to see how many people have shared your story.

How to See Who Shared Your Instagram Story?

Ask Your Followers Who Shared Your Story Through Another Story

This is the best method to find out who shared your story, I can think of.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your story
Go to your story
Go to your story

First, you’ll need to go to your story by opening your Instagram profile and tapping on the story icon.

It’s in the top-left corner of the screen, next to the Followers, Following, and Posts statistics.

Tap on it!

  1. Take a screenshot of the story

Now that you’ve arrived at your story take a screenshot. You’ll need this to ask your followers who shared it.

Hold Volume Down and the Power Button simultaneously to take a screenshot and proceed to the next steps!

  1. Add a story

Now you’ll need to add a story. To do this, click on the Plus icon at the top of the Instagram app.

Then, select “Story” from the dropdown menu. Next to it, you’ll find several options, including “Post,” “Reel,” and “Live.”

Tap on “Story” to create your story on Instagram.

  1. Select the screenshot of the story you took earlier

After you tap on “Story,” you’ll be taken to the “Add to story” menu. This is where you can select a picture to act as your story.

Select the screenshot you took earlier, the one showing the other story.

After you select it, proceed to the next step!

  1. Tap on the “Aa” icon

Type in something like, “Hey guys, can you tell me down below who shared this story that I’ve added here?”.

Depending on how you interact with your followers, you can construct your message however you want to.

After you’re done, tap on the “Your story” button in the bottom-left corner. This will post your story on Instagram.

Now you have to wait and check the comments on your story from time to time. Your followers should tell you whether they’ve shared your previous story or not.

How Can I Stop Others from Sharing My Instagram Story?

Things are much simpler if you don’t want others to share your story on Instagram. There’s a setting that can help you with this!

You need to go to the Privacy settings on Instagram, then to Stories – Allow Sharing – Turn off.

Follow the steps below to do this:

  1. Go to Menu – ”Settings
Go to Menu – ”Settings”
Go to Menu – ”Settings”

Click on the Menu icon on your profile page and then go to Settings. It’s the first option on the list.

This will open the Settings window. There, you’ll need to go to Privacy.

  1. Select “Privacy
Select “Privacy”
Select “Privacy”

In the “Settings,” look for the “Privacy” option and select it.

You won’t need to scroll down because the Privacy option is the third on the list, at the top of the list.

  1. Select “Story
Select “Story”
Select “Story”

Inside the “Privacy” options, you should look for the “Story” option and select it.

That’s where you can change the sharing option and stop others from sharing your story on Instagram.

  1. Uncheck the “Allow sharing to story” option
Uncheck the “Allow sharing to story” option
Uncheck the “Allow sharing to story” option

If you don’t want others to share parts of your story on their feed posts and IGTV videos, uncheck the “Allow sharing to story” option.

If you don’t want others to share your story through direct messages, uncheck the “Allow sharing to messages” option.

This will make your Instagram stories impossible to share.

Conclusion

While Instagram doesn’t have a feature that lets you discover who shared your Instagram story, there’s still a way.

You can post another story where you ask your followers who shared that specific story. Leave a caption on the story with this question and wait.

Your followers will reply and tell you who shared your story, hopefully. Other than this, there’s nothing else you can do.

Even with a business account and the “Insights” feature, you can only see how many followers have shared your story, not who.

Can I use third-party apps to see who shared my Instagram story?

Technically, there are third-party apps that can help you find out who shared your Instagram story. But I don’t trust them because they are unaccredited and generally unsafe. There’s no guarantee it works, and it doesn’t instead infect your device with malware.
You don’t need me to give you examples of this happening. The internet is a wildland filled with traps everywhere.
If you don’t know where to look, you’ll get ransomware and lose access to your device and files.
I recommend never installing or using a third-party app that seems to hijack another app to give you certain benefits.

Can my account be harmed if people share my stories?

No, that’s impossible. People who share your stories can’t harm your account or get you in trouble. If your story isn’t violating any Instagram guidelines, then you shouldn’t worry. People can share your story all they want, which will only affect you positively.
If you’re an influencer on Instagram, the more people share your stories, the better. You’ll become more popular that way.
But if you want to keep it private, you can stop people from sharing your story. Go to the Privacy settings and follow the steps above to fix this.
The middle-ground is allowing only your followers to share your story. Other people will only be able to see it, not share it!

Unforeseen errors, bugs, and other problems make their use of social media problematic. These things will be discussed amply in the guides on Whizcase.

I'll present the facts as they are, and offer quick and easy solutions for them.
