Just now, Instagram announced that they’ll be implementing GIFs to the platform. This means users will be able to respond to public posts with GIFs.
The feature has been long awaited, and users could not be any happier that it’s finally here. Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s CEO, made this announcement during a chat with Mark Zuckerberg.
Users will be able to choose GIFs from Giphy, one of the most popular GIF databases out there. Coincidentally, Giphy is also owned by Meta, just like Instagram.
This news is even more interesting as it times one year after the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority ordered Meta to sell Giphy.
It seems that, instead of selling it, they’ve decided to make it integral to Instagram’s user experience.
Future Feature in Testing – Lyrics in Reels
Adam Mosseri also announced that Instagram is currently working on another long awaited-for feature – lyrics in reels.
The feature is a continuation or rather, transformation, of the auto-caption sticker implemented by Meta on Facebook in 2021.
The feature will allow users to sync the captions with the video more accurately, making Reels that much more popular and user-friendly.
It seems Instagram is doing its best to listen to the users’ feedback, and most users appreciate it based on their reactions to the platform.
How Can You Use GIFs on Instagram?
Before using GIFs, you need to make sure that you’re using the latest version of Instagram. Open the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and then see if you have any updates.
Then, open the app, go to a post, and open the comment box. You should see the GIF option right away. Tap it and you’ll see several GIFs as well as a search bar.
Use the search bar to look through Giphy’s database and select any GIF you want. There are no restrictions whatsoever!
If you can’t see the GIF button in the comment box, this might be because Instagram has just released the feature. So, availability may be limited for a few weeks before everyone can use it.
