For the Less Sociable of Us: Can You Use Twitter Without an Account?

Yes, in fact, you can use Twitter without ever creating an account. But you won’t be able to do certain things, as you might imagine.

Below, I’ll give you a general rundown of what you CAN and CAN’T do on Twitter without an account. Spoiler – you can do a lot of things without being logged in.

But please, keep reading for more information about this 😀

What Can I Do…?

  • Use the search function to look for tweets
  • Find your favorite personality and check out their latest tweets
  • See media like photos and videos
  • Read the news

Yep, you can do all that without ever having a Twitter account. But you can only be a passive observer without an account, meaning that you can’t interact with anything.

Naturally, the “what can’t I do…” list will be longer, a LOT longer, than the “what can I do…” list. Just check it down below!

What Can’t I Do…?

  • Like the tweet
  • Follow users
  • Post tweets of your own
  • Create a timeline of your tweets
  • Go live
  • Create Twitter threads
  • Report users
  • Create ads
  • Follow topics or interests
  • Update your personalized settings
  • Host Twitter Spaces
  • Reply to tweets or retweet them
  • Create Twitter Moments
  • Create bookmarks
  • DM other users

I told you that this list was going to be a lot bigger than the previous one. The truth is that there isn’t much you can do on Twitter without an account.

However, some people are content with just reading the news or seeing the latest tweets from their favorite content creators.

They don’t feel the need to tweet, make their opinions known, report users, go live, or do any of the other stuff that regular users take for granted.

Is that enough for you? I don’t know… is it?

It certainly is for me since I’m not that much of a socialite. Reading the news and watching a few funny videos from creators is more than enough for me.

That’s about all there is to this topic. If you have any questions or you’re curious about something related to Twitter, let me know in the comments below!

My name is Alex and I have a knack for social media in all its shapes and forms. I’ve dealt with such things for quite some time and I noticed that many people have issues with social media and technicalities.

Unforeseen errors, bugs, and other problems make their use of social media problematic. These things will be discussed amply in the guides on Whizcase.

I'll present the facts as they are, and offer quick and easy solutions for them.
