Do I Need Xbox Live to Play Roblox?

Roblox can be played on a variety of platforms, including:

  • Xbox series X and S
  • Android
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Fire OS
  • iOS
  • Mac

But no, you don’t need Xbox Live to play Roblox.

As for April 2021, you no longer need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play Roblox on Xbox platforms. Roblox made this announcement, hoping to attract even more users.

I’ll get into more details about Roblox and what you need to play it on an Xbox (and whether it’s free now), so jump into the guide below for more info!

Is Roblox Free on Xbox?

Yes, Roblox is entirely free on Xbox. You can download it from the Xbox Live store for free, and you won’t need any subscription to play it.

Before 2021, Xbox users would need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play Roblox but not anymore. It’s entirely free now!

In fact, no free-to-play game requires Xbox Live Gold to play them anymore. So, thanks Xbox, I guess…

Roblox was always free on all the other platforms, but Xbox kept using the same old system of requiring a Gold Live subscription, even for free games (which sucked…).

What Do I Need to Play Roblox on Xbox?

All you need is an Xbox, an Xbox account, and a controller.

Set up your Xbox, open it, log into your account, download Roblox, and start playing 😀

The game can be found on the Xbox Live Store alongside other free games, and you’re not limited to playing just a few.

You can play as many free games as you want on Xbox without being required to get an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

You can also play with your friends and access Roblox’s features. You aren’t limited in what you can do in the game.

Most importantly, Roblox is cross-platform, which means you can play with your PC or Playstation friends while using an Xbox.

You can connect with them online, talk to them, and invite them to parties. You can visit their Experiences, they can come to you, and so on.

And… that’s pretty much it! Got any more questions for me? Leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to reply!

My name is Alex and I have a knack for social media in all its shapes and forms. I’ve dealt with such things for quite some time and I noticed that many people have issues with social media and technicalities.

Unforeseen errors, bugs, and other problems make their use of social media problematic. These things will be discussed amply in the guides on Whizcase.

I'll present the facts as they are, and offer quick and easy solutions for them.
