How Can You Send Blank Messages on Discord?
Regardless of why you want to send blank messages on Discord, this guide will teach you how to do it.
1. Use the underscore (_)
The way to do this is simple. Type in _ and then press Spacebar on your keyboard multiple times (as many times as you want).
And then type in another _
This will activate a special code used on the “text” between the underscores. But since you only added spaces, the “text” will be invisible.
The underscore code usually makes the text italic and acts the same way here. But you can’t see anything because you’ve made blank space italic.
And italic blank space is still…blank space (which is invisible). See where I’m getting at?
2. Use double stars (**)
The same thing applies here. The double star boldens the text between the stars. In this case, it boldens the blank space, but the end-result is boldened nothingness. Getting into philosophy here…
3. Use two vertical bars (||)
This method is a bit special. It doesn’t make blank space invisible. Instead, it highlights it.
The message you send will look highlighted with a grey color, but it’ll still be blank. There won’t be any text.
What’s interesting is that it does the same thing to text. It covers it with a grey color, making it invisible. However, if you click on it, the message will be revealed.
As you can see in the first picture, the message is hidden by a greyed-out portion. But if you click on it, the message is revealed.
This method essentially counts as a blank message until you click on it. You could call it an undercover blank message.
So, that’s it! Try out these methods to send blank messages on Discord. If they don’t work or you have any questions, let me know, and I’ll do my best to help you!
Why would you send a blank message on Discord?
That’s a good question! Most people who want to send blank messages on Discord are trying to mess with their friends.
This is usually used for cracking jokes on your friends because blank messages have no other uses.
Blank messages may be used on certain Discord servers and channels to communicate coded messages.
With the “||” character, you can hide messages that are only revealed once you click the message.
And if no one knows about this function, then you and your friend can be very secretive.
But if someone discovers this messaging method, they’ll spy on you and see your conversation.
It’s better to talk to your friend through DMs if you have sensitive things to tell them.
Why can’t I send a blank message if I copy-paste blank space on Discord?
You might have tried to do this at some point – type in “a a” on Discord and copy the blank space between the “a” letters.
Then, copy-paste that space into the chat box and hit enter. You’ll notice that the message isn’t being sent.
That’s because the blank space isn’t in Unicode. Think of Unicode as a method of encrypting text into computer code.
Every letter has a unique code attached to it. Blank space has that too.
But the blank space in Discord doesn’t use the traditional Unicode, which means you won’t be able to use it to send blank messages.
To send a blank message, you’ll need to copy the genuine Unicoded blank space.
This one – [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀].
Copy-paste it into any chat box, hit Enter, and watch as you send blank messages!
