Once you’re in the “Privacy and Security” menu in Telegram, find the “Sync Contacts” option and uncheck it. It should already be checked.

After you uncheck it, Telegram will stop taking on your phone contacts and creating profiles for them on Telegram.

The “Suggest Frequent Contacts” option should still be on, though. This way, you can manually allow certain contacts from your phone to be transferred to Telegram.

Conclusion

To summarize, you can delete contacts from Telegram by chatting with your friend, then go to their profile, click/tap on the three-dot icon, and select “Delete Contact.”

If you want to delete the chat, hold-tap/right-click on the chat and select “Delete Chat.” This will delete the Telegram contacts from your phone. However, the chat will remain.

This will remove a user from your Telegram account, both the contact and the conversation you’ve had with them.

If you have other questions, comment below, and I’ll reply soon!

Will my phone contacts disappear if I delete them from Telegram?

No, they won’t. Deleting your Telegram contacts won’t also delete them from your mobile phone.

Just the Telegram contact will disappear. But you’ll still have that person on your contact schedule.

If you want, you can add that person to your Telegram from your mobile agenda.

You’ll need to delete a contact from your Telegram account and contacts agenda if you want to be done with that person completely.

Even if you delete a chat with a person on Telegram, that person won’t disappear from your contacts’ agenda.

It’s good to know this since you might not want to completely delete a contact from your phone, just from your Telegram account.

Can my contacts see me on Telegram?

This is an interesting question. Do your Telegram contacts see you on their Telegram as well?

Not necessarily, no. Your phone number on Telegram will only be seen by those contacts you’ve also added to your phone agenda.

So, if you’re chatting with a Telegram user that’s not on your agenda, they won’t be able to see your phone number.

If you send private messages on groups or private conversations on Telegram, your number will also not be visible.

You might also want to desync your contacts on Telegram (like I showed you above) if you don’t want people on Telegram to see your phone number.

Telegram is a privacy-oriented app that won’t show your private data to other people for good reasons.

The app will want to know whether you know those people first and trust them enough before revealing your phone number to them.
